I think with many of the recent regulations, they could verify and find many of the egregious cases to be violating today.
The EU is just extremely worried about US tariffs and retracting support to Ukraine.
IMO they should just bite the bullet and do what they need to do. In a world of bullies those that are willing to show their teeth win. But instead we have a lot of politicians without a spine.
I'm extremely confident it isn't US companies that "refer customers to Temu or AliExpress for spare parts". Apple and Google, the only two American smartphone makers AFAIK, both have compliant listings with detailed repair portals.
A huge part of that was fearmongering by people selling compliance consultancy services and people trying to find loopholes allowing them to keep abusing their users' data. For a lot of companies it really wasn't that big of a deal in practice.
The list goes on for products and services they cloned from western innovation. China didn't get there first in any of the categories you listed. Of course, people would rather spend less than more, disregarding the quality and longevity of the product.
Paying pennies on the dollar for a BYD vehicle sounds great when all you consider is the initial sticker price. The real cost is what happens after you buy the disposable car and own it for a decade.
So yea. Second place is the reality and it is also true for AI models, and the hardware needed to run them.

From where I’m sitting in Europe, Tesla feels like the disposable car. Gatekeeping repairs and parts and more quality defects needing post shipment corrections than other brands.
To take a concept and refine it to reach mass production is success. It is what made the US what you believe it is today and it is what is creating a healthy supply chain in China. Just look at the challenges of Destin of Smarter Every Day[1] when producing a grill scrubber using only US suppliers and materials.
A “Made in the USA” label is no guarantee of superior design or manufacturing quality to me but if Japan is mentioned I have a greater confidence in the quality of the product.
They added so much new syntax to C# to the point it really is starting to feel like C++++ whereas Java has modernized itself without massively expanding its syntax and modifiers.

I actually have one and while I love the simplicity of it, it turns out the minute hand is actually the more useful hand.
Trying to figure out if you have 10 or 20 minutes until your next appointment on a Slow Watch is extremely painful, so much so that I only wear it if I don’t think I’ll need to know the time behind if it’s “roughly between 1 and 2 pm”.
Really? I use Firefox as my personal browser and everything works fine, including Google sites. Very rarely there’s a government site that needs Chrome, but I definitely wouldn’t say it’s “many” sites.
